 The Directorate of Career Development and Mentoring Programmes (CDMP) is comprised of three distinctive units. Through which, the Directorate has the mandate to address the mentoring and career needs of the students throughout their academic period; assist, process and co-ordinate their attachment and practicum needs with the relevant industrial partners; provide career counselling and guidance on job readiness and preparedness competencies through the Growing Leaders Programme: Certificate in Leadership Development and Mentorship, which equips them with critical leadership and soft skills needed for the 21st Century.

 
Vision: to be a dynamic and internationally recognized centre of excellence in the provision of earnest support and diligent services in career guidance and counseling, career development and employment education.

Mission:to engender self awareness and confidence in career development among prospective and continuing students of Kenyatta University and Alumni, and to develop skills in real work situations, professional growth, and job acquisition.

Kenyatta University Career Week is an annual premier event that integrates productive interactions between students and corporate organizations. The Career Week is organized by the Directorate of Career Development and Mentorship Programmes, (CDMP) in conjunction with Kenyatta University Students’ Association (KUSA) on behalf of Kenyatta University Management. Career Week 2023 is scheduled on  28th January to 3rd February, 2023. The theme will be "Digital disruptions: the future of work in a hybrid world."

ii. Career Development& Placement

The Section entails:

- High school career advisory

services and marketing

- Career week

- Coordinating Departmental

and School academic advising

- Coordinating practicum and

attachment programmes

- Coordinating on Campus job

recruitment drives

- Career counseling and guidance

iii. Growing Leaders programmes The unit coordinates:

- Final year students leadership and soft skills certificate course

- Teaching, examination processing and certification of the leadership course

- Issuance of Growing leaders certificates to all finalist students.
